What does true health, wealth, and wellness really look like?
In this episode of Recounting Life Lessons, Alana sits down with Boomer Anderson, CEO of Smarter Not Harder, Inc., and Executive Director of Health Optimization Medicine and Practice.

Tune in to hear how Boomer's wake-up call reshaped his view of success, health, and how to approach it
Listen now if you care about your health and sometimes feel unsure what true wellness really looks like

This episode was rich with insights, here are a few of them:
Golden Nugget #1: Stress Well
Stress can be used to strengthen a muscle, but when we over do it, we can cause damage as well.
Our muscles need time for recovery between strenuous use and it's also important to know when to stop to prevent injuries. The same can be said about our lives.
Stress can either push us to the top or, if we're not careful, it can push us over the edge.
Boomer looked like the picture of fitness and success, but his diagnosis revealed what stress and the lack of rest of rest and recovery were really costing him.
When we prioritize recovery, sleep, and destressing or calming activities as much as we prioritize achievement, we are optimizing ourselves for sustainability and longevity.
Golden Nugget #2: Increasing our awareness empowers our ability to make positive changes in our health and life
Obviously, that's probably why you ever listen to podcast episodes like these. No matter where you are in your health, work, or life journey, knowledge empowers your ability to make better decisions.
Boomer's turning point came when he started asking better questions about what was really going on inside his body. This same principle applies in life.
When we slow down and look honestly at what's working and what's not, we can make intentional choices instead of reactive ones.
Awareness is often the first step toward change—whether in your health, your habits, or in your mindset.
Golden Nugget #3: Presence is a great measure of success
After everything he's achieved and overcome, Boomer's greatest lesson was learning to be fully present—to actually live in the moment instead of racing through it.
I like to think of it this way. True success isn't just about the results; it's also about having the capacity to enjoy those results.
Perhaps it's a lot like making good barbecue. We turn down the heat in our lives and take it slower instead of trying to rush through it all.
When we take that time it allows us to appreciate what's right in front of us, we're better able to savor every bite that life has to offer.
